Great Britain’s Katie Boulter and Cameron Norrie produced superb comebacks to reach the second round of the Miami Open.

British number two Boulter came from a set down to beat Czech world number 78 Kristyna Pliskova 4-6 6-3 6-3.

Norrie, the world number 56, recovered from a 5-1 third-set deficit to beat Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka 6-1 3-6 7-5.

The 25-year-old won six straight games to seal victory and set up a meeting with ninth seed Grigor Dimitrov.

Boulter will next face Belgium’s world number 17 Elise Mertens after seeing off Pliskova in a match where both players struggled to hold their service games.

Having lost the first set, Boulter, who suffered a first-round exit in Monterrey last week, began her fightback with a break to move 4-1 ahead midway through the second set and force a decider.

The 24-year-old then forced an early break in the decisive set and took a fourth match point as Pliskova floundered after a run of double faults.

Heather Watson could not add to the British success on Wednesday, losing 6-4 6-1 to Serbia’s world number 95 Nina Stojanovic.
