Incredible first quarter

Ireland went over for two stellar tries in the opening 20 minutes of the match, with Hugo Keenan claiming the first with a neat set move.

Tighthead prop Finlay Bealham sent the full-back through a gap from a strike play after a goal-line dropout.

France’s response

France hit back a brilliant try of their own starting from inside their 22.

Damian Penaud sprinted out of his 22 before putting Anthony Jelonch into space; the flanker broke through the Irish defence before offloading the ball back to Penaud, who raced away to the try-line.

Lowe’s finish

The third try of the game was just as impressive as Lowe made an acrobatically finished-off score in the left-hand corner.

Ireland managed to suck the French defence in before sending it wide out centre Garry Ringrose who threw a skip pass out to Lowe.

With Penaud charging down on him, Lowe leapt into the air and wrapped his body around the corner flag to score in the corner in his finish.

Referee Wayne Barnes did converse with the TMO to check the grounding with the officials awarding the winger the try in the end.

His try gave meant Ireland trialled 12-13 but they would go into the lead soon after Uini Atonio was yellow-carded for a high tackle on Rob Herring.

Andrew Porter snuck over the line from close range with the conversion from Sexton putting Ireland ahead 19-13.

The two sides traded penalties before half-time, with Ireland leading 22-16 at the break.
