Hull’s Scott Taylor receives ban for dangerous tackle

Hull’s Scott Taylor has received a one-match ban for a Grade C dangerous tackle following his try-winning performance over Leeds at Headingley Stadium. 

The forward is the only player to receive a suspension, with five other Super League players charged.

The details of his charge in the match review panel minutes reads: “Defender uses any part of their body forcefully to twist, bend or otherwise apply pressure to the limb or limbs of an opposing player in a way that involves an unacceptable risk of injury to that player.”

Taylor, 32, scored the match-winning try that saw Hull claim a 22-18 victory over Leeds on Friday. He will miss their trip to face Catalans on Friday.

In the same fixture, Leeds half-back Blake Austin received a Grade B dangerous contact charge, with no further action taken.

Elsewhere, both Wigan’s Liam Farrell and Wakefield’s Jorge Taufua received Grade B charges for dangerous contacts respectively following their fixture on Friday. The pair have been fined £250 by the match review panel.

Leigh forward Joe Wardle received a £250 fine for a Grade B striking charge following his side’s defeat to Catalans on Saturday.

Finally, St Helens superstar Jack Welsby also received a Grade A high tackle charge following their victory over Castleford, live on Channel 4. He received no further action.

Scott Taylor (Hull) – Grade C Dangerous Contact – 1-match penalty notice

Jorge Taufua (Wakefield) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – £250 fine

Liam Farrell – Grade B Dangerous Contact – £250 fine

Joe Wardle – Grade B Striking – £250 fine

Blake Austin – Grade Dangerous Contact – no further action

Jack Welsby – Grade A High Tackle – no further action
