A WIN against Wigan is always welcome and Warrington Rugby Union Club’s under 15s did it in style, defeating their counterparts 39-0.

The dominant success against dogged opponents means Warrington Rugby Union u15’s continued their unbeaten start to the season.

A cross-field kick from half-back Freddie Hartill found Mikey Craven and it was from his offload that prop Harry Allen sprinted in from halfway to open the scoring.

When space on the blindside opened up for winger Sam Laird to score in the corner for the second, the home team were in control.

George Kelly put Laird in for his second before front rowers McKenzie Morris and Fin Hill both powered over.

Morris jumped from the back of a rolling maul and Hill used good footwork to power over.

As the bodies tired and the rain poured, the second half was a bit scrappy with Warrington placing a big emphasis on defence.

Harry Allen got his second and centre Paddy Shephard sprinted on to a perfectly executed set piece to complete the scoring.

Warrington forwards coach John Calendar was pleased with their performance and said: “While we naturally play a running game, keeping the ball in hand and playing into space; in the rain, a good kick, chase and defensive pressure is a useful weapon.”
