Charles Piutau sets up try with RIDICULOUS piece of skill : PlanetRugby

Former All Black full-back Charles Piutau set up one of the tries of the season in Bristol Bears’ Premiership encounter with Northampton Saints on Friday.

Receiving the ball from Harry Randall 60 metres out from the try line, Piutau beat the first two defenders by spinning out of the tackle before producing his trademark left foot step.

That sheer piece of brilliance opened up the space for him to sprint clear. He still had plenty to do, however, with two defenders covering the backfield, but his grubber through allowed his scrum-half, who was running an excellent support line, to collect and score.

The scored capped off a brilliant opening half for the Bears, with Pat Lam’s men dominating title challengers Northampton despite a slow start.

Bristol took a while to get going, but Randall’s excellent individual effort, where he fooled visiting hooker Sam Matavesi, set the ball rolling.

Another outstanding move then almost led to a stunning score, only for Harry Thacker’s off-load to drift forward.

However, the West Countrymen were rampant, and Thacker made up for that slight error by crossing the whitewash before Piutau came to the fore.

The full-back set up Randall for that incredible try and then provided the assist for Ioan Lloyd to touch down and give Bristol a commanding lead at the break.

Despite going into the game in ninth position in the Premiership table, Bristol had won their previous two matches going into this contest, and they ripped the in-form Northampton apart.

After scoring four tries in the first half, they sealed the bonus-point and went into the interval 27-3 in front against the Saints at Ashton Gate.
