The ‘rugby league addict’ who is joining Warrington Wolves’ board of directors

A lifelong Wire fan, Mr Browne has been a trustee of the club’s Community Foundation since 2022 having grown up playing and coaching in the amateur game with Woolston Rovers, Rylands and Burtonwood.

“Rugby league gave me my core values so to be able to pay that back in some way is a huge thing for me,” he said.

“Having built and grown a successful business of my own, I will bring some new perspectives that will build on exiting leadership expertise.

“My career has exposed to a weird mix of consulting, technology, marketing, sales, business leadership and people management.

“I’m also a rugby league addict, still running around the touch rugby field a few times each week and of course watching The Wire every week.

“Having chatted to Karl (Fitzpatrick), Stuart (Middleton), Mike Lomax, Gary Chambers and Sam Burgess over the past few months, I decided it was time to roll my sleeves up and make a serious impact with the club I love.”

Resulting IT have been a club sponsor for the past seven seasons, with Stuart himself recently listed in The Times’ Top 50 Most Ambitious Business Leaders.

And the board members he will now join have spoken of the impact they hope the former Beamont High School pupil will have on the club.

“I have been looking to strengthen the board of Directors and Stuart was the perfect fit,” club chairman Stuart Middleton said.

“His CV speaks for itself – he is a true Warringtonian and a passionate, dedicated lifelong fan.

“He will make a positive contribution to initiate change and help to grow and drive the business in what is one of the most difficult and challenging periods in Super League’s near 30-year history.”

Chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick added: “I’ve known Stuart for many years and I’m confident he’ll make a real and positive impact on the club.

“His passion for both the club and the sport, combined with his experience in building and developing a successful business, will be invaluable.

“I’ve no doubt he’ll make a strong contribution across multiple areas of the organisation.”
