Sussex’s women up and running in Blast after win at Hove


Sussex’s women are up and running after joy at Hove in the Vitality T20 Blast.

They enjoyed a 27-run win over Gloucestershire in the first part a double-header at the 1st Central County Ground.

It was a strong response to their eight-wicket defeat by Middlesex at Lord’s on opening night.

Owner Rachel King batted throughout their 20-overs score of 148-2, making 68 not out from 54 deliveries.

Nancy Harman scored 27 from 22 balls.

Skipper Chiara Green then came in and helped King set a decent target.

The third-wicket pair added an unbeaten 62 from 6.4 overs.

Gloucestershire lost a couple of early wickets and ended on 121-4.

Kali-Ann Docherty took 1-9 off two overs to help make early inroads.

Skipper Green’s spin brought her 2-19 from four overs and Ava Lee, who took one wicket, saw her four overs go for just 17.
