AFTER seven straight wins, Otley have finally been beaten in the Aire-Wharfe League Premier Division.
It seemed the right decision to send Pool in when they were reduced to 37-3 and 57-4, but then things changed.

Robert Goldthorp hit his straps to make 95 off 81 balls, including seven fours and seven sixes, and found a willing partner in Will Pallister, who scored 38 as they added 98.
Pool therefore finished with 183-5 from their 35 overs to put the result in the balance.
Otley lost George Myers for an eight-ball duck but then opener Alex Atkinson (29) and unrelated captain Josh Atkinson (51) put on 42.
Two more wickets fell to make it 65-4 before Steve Brown (44) added 80 with Josh Atkinson.
However, both fell within a run of each other and Otley could only score 26 from the final 5.1 overs to finish on 172-8.

Charlie Bradbourne bowled eight overs at a cost of only 30 runs, while Nat Cutts took 3-48.
Runs were harder to come by at Hodson Park, where Burley chose to bat against Steeton, but were back in the pavilion for 111 in 31 overs.
Four batters lasted a combined total of 10 balls but at least the hosts made three figures, largely thanks to stands of 43 between Joe Hall (22) and Dan Revis (20) and 25 between Harry Watson (20) and Red Bolton (9).
Steeton had partnerships of 33 and 21 down the order but they had to recover from 36-7 and were dismissed for 98, although that took until the 38th over.
Ben Hemsley and Jack Luxton both got golden ducks, while Brad Akrigg only lasted a ball more as Jason Wright (5-20) made up for his golden duck, aided by Mack Hall (3-24).

Burley are now up to second on 130 points, 10 behind Otley, while Pool are sixth on 111, two places and eight points better off than Horsforth Hall Park.
The latter were at home to Saltaire, who made 231-7 in 40 overs after being sent in, Charles Greatbatch bagging 4-59.
Hall Park made a great start after tea, an opening stand of 41 being consolidated by a second-wicket partnership of 86.
Jack Newby, who scored 74, including five fours and two sixes, was involved in both, firstly with Jake Littleton (15) and then with Priyank Koli (50), whose innings almost came at a run a ball and contained three fours and three sixes.

Although Ash Rowden made 20, the innings fell away after that and Hall Park ended on 201-9.
Addingham became the eighth team in the division to top 100 points, scoring 302-2 from their allowed 40 overs after being sent in by visitors North Leeds.
All four home batters made half-centuries, Jacob Parker (70) and captain Ricky Palacio (84) putting on 144, with Parker’s knock only lasting 59 balls and including nine fours and a six.
Palacio finished on 84 from 86 balls, which contained six fours and five sixes, and the cudgels were then taken up by Nick Farrell (69no) and Abs Dawood (61no), who added 124 unbroken.

Farrell faced 49 balls and Dawood 48, both hitting five fours and three sixes.
North Leeds were then dismissed for 145 in 42.2 overs, Parker finishing a fine match by taking 3-26, James Nixon bagging 2-33.
Rawdon also enjoyed themselves at the crease in Division One, scoring 236-4 from 38 overs after being sent in at Kirkstall.
The visitors had three partnerships of note – 63 for the first wicket between captain Jake Hodges (39) and Caleb Futter (57), who then added 95 with keeper Will Joyce (43) before Saud Munir (24no) and James Doidge (31no) put on 51 unbroken.
Kirkstall were 93-7 and did well to make 171, Hodges and Futter backing up their batting by taking 3-51 and 3-38 respectively, Alex Lee nipping in with 2-19.

Rawdon are third on 130 points, 14 behind Bilton and 12 adrift of Calverley as they bid for an immediate return to the Premier Division.
Ilkley, two points and a place below Rawdon, had a comfortable afternoon at Bardsey, who were dismissed for 155 after being sent in, despite the openers putting on 73.
Change bowlers Rob Spivey (5-34) and Dan Bott (4-49) triggered the collapse, but there were no alarms after tea as Ilkley won by seven wickets by the end of the 27th over.
Keeper Will Spivey (48no) saw the job through, adding 46 for the second wicket with Woodie Luffman (30) and 56 unbroken with Alex Bailey (41no from 26 balls, including four fours and three sixes).

Menston are seventh on 105 points after adding to Follifoot’s woes, who only made 97 after opting to bat.
Fraser Oates (5-35) put the hosts under the pump, Sarfaraz Ahmed (2-17) and Muhammad Sudais (2-5) completing the job.
JH Johnson (22), Oates (34no) and captain and keeper Adam Montague-Millar (22) then saw Menston home for the loss of three wickets inside 19 overs.
Olicanian were on the wrong end of a run-fest at Bilton, who scored 351-5 after being sent in in a rare innings that went the full 50 overs.
Haroon Mahmood did well to take 4-51 in that carnage, and Ollies were then dismissed for 201 in 49 overs.

Opener Harry Smallwood (56) put on 108 for the second wicket with Theo McLelland (46), but only the latter’s brother, skipper Ethan (23), and No 10 Mustafa Sajjad (25no) made over 20 after that.
Guiseley’s match at Bolton Villas was postponed due to Eid and will be re-arranged.
In Division Two, Green Lane were beaten by visitors Old Leodiensians, but both are still in the mix for promotion.
Lane must have feared the worst when they were sent in and could only score 115, Leos winning by six wickets inside 24 overs.
Horsforth have climbed out of a demotion berth after an easy home win over bottom-of-the-table Skipton.

The latter were castled for 86 after being sent in, Matthew Wainwright taking 5-19 and Alex Wiggan 2-2.
Horsforth were seen to an eight-wicket win by opener Graeme Whiles (44no) and Wiggan (18no), who put on 53 unbroken.
Three of the bottom four, including Horsforth and Skipton, have now played eight matches.
The other to have done so are Leeds Modernians, who were defeated by six wickets at home by Rodley.
Sent in, Mods made 136, Jordan Symonds (10) and captain Jonathan Wiggan (35) getting them off to a solid start with a stand of 43.
Greg McManus (25) and Albert Taylor (24) then helped them to three figures, but it was not enough as Rodley reached their target inside 31 overs, despite McManus taking 2-27.
