Netherfield endured a weekend of mixed fortunes as Ben Barrow’s team experienced two different results in league and cup.
However on Saturday, Netherfield remained second in the league after they won by eight runs at Garstang before losing out at the semi-final stage of the 40 Over cup losing by 10 runs at Leyland.

The cup defeat to Leyland was of particular frustration where the team did well to get back into the game after Leyland posted a competitive first innings total of 243/9 off 50 overs.
John Huck (Image: Richard Edmondson) New Zealand Professional Cole McConchies 88 off 81 balls and John Hucks 53 off 64 balls kept Netherfield in the chase while Josh Dixons lower order knock of 37 was also crucial.
Although Leyland in the end held out with Ned Patterson and Karl Cross taking two wickets apiece while Netherfield closed on 233-7.
Netherfield who lost the toss and were put into field saw Karl Cross and Alexander Eyres post a first wicket partnership of 81.

However the field made a key breakthrough when Oli Wileman dismissed Eyres who was caught behind for 50 off 51 by Will Beeden.
Leyland recovered with Karl Cross and Club Professional Sam Oldham at the crease as they guided their team onto 127, before Isaac Medhurst dismissed Oldham who picked out Cole McConchie while Oliver Sanday claimed the prize wicket of Karl Cross who fell for 67 off 80 balls as he fell to a catch from Oli Wileman.
Cole McConchie (Image: Richard Edmondson) Netherfield continued to work their way through the home team with Oli Wileman returning figures of 4-37 after he claimed the wickets of Ned Patterson, Lloyd Tennant and Andrew Makinson while Cole McConchie trapped Ross Bretherton LBW with Leyland struggling on 197-7.
Although Alex Sutcliffe frustrated Netherfield after he scored a crucial knock of 28 off 20 balls which moved Leyland onto a competitive 243 before Matt Jackson dismissed both Sutcliffe and Andrew Jacques with Leyland closing on 243-9.

Netherfields reply got off to the worst possible start when both Richard Everett and Ben Barrow were dismissed with Karl Cross taking both wickets after Everett picked out Alexander Eyre while Barrow was caught by Ned Patterson.
Cole McConchie and John Huck turned the game in Netherfields favour with a crucial partnership which saw the team move onto 145.

Both wickets were turned the game in Leylands favour as Netherfield were under pressure with Will Beeden the next to fall for 23 after was caught by Andrew Makinson off the bowling of Smith.

Josh Dixon kept Netherfield in contention and while Ned Patterson saw off Oli Wileman, Netherfield set up a tense last over.
Young Oliver Sanday hit two consecutive fours in the final over as Netherfield continued to close in on victory, before Leyland claimed the crucial wicket of Dixon who was run out by Adam Sexton.
And Leyland saw out the last few deliveries of the game to seal the win while Netherfield just missed out closing on 233-7.
On Saturday, Netherfield impressed winning by 8 runs at Garstang, with Richard Everett’s 48 off 81 and Oli Wilemans knock of 24 proving crucial as Netherfield closed on 187-9.

In reply 4 wickets apiece from Isaac Medhurst and Cole McConchie as well as Samuel Medhursts return of 2-50 saw Netherfield to victory.
Although Garstang frustrated after a last wicket partnership through Michael Wellings (39) and Cory Cater (27), before Isaac Medhurst dismissed Cater to seal the win as Garstang were bowled out for 179.
Netherfield are home to Blackpool on Saturday before they play Kendal at Shap Road on Bank Holiday Monday.
