A FESTIVAL celebrating women and girls in cricket is set to return this summer.

Worcestershire Cricket Foundation will host MEGAFEST on Saturday, June 8, at the Kings Playing Fields, behind Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

Women’s teams are invited to take part in a cricket tournament on the day, and are encouraged to “make it as competitive as you like”.

Last year, MEGAFEST was hosted at the same time as England Women against New Zealand, and more than 270 women took part across 24 teams.

Billy Clark, the executive director of Worcestershire Cricket Foundation, said: “We want every woman and girl in Worcestershire to know that cricket is for them, so we’re offering two exciting ways to get involved: a participation group for those who just want to have fun and a competitive group for teams ready to challenge themselves.

“If you’re a female cricketer aged 14 or older, bring your team, give it a go, and enjoy a day full of laughs, fun, and softball cricket.”
