IT’s been a rough old tour of Australia for England – but a group of Cockermouth cricketers were Down Under to celebrate a rare victory.
Members of the Sandair club were in Melbourne to see a remarkable two-day Fourth Test, which England won by six wickets.

Already beaten in the series 3-0, as Australia retained the Ashes, the much-maligned England side produced their best display of the tour to win a low-scoring game in Melbourne.
Flying the flag for Cockermouth were a number of players and friends, with two of them, Josh Brown and Regan Scott, actually joining the party as they have been spending their winter in Australia in club cricket.
Among the group shown flying the flag are Scott, Brown, Tom Norman, Alex Grainger, and Marcus Stables, a former player who now lives in Australia.

The Cockermouth lads were also hoping to spend time with the England captain, who built his stellar career after starting at the Sandair club.
They had witnessed England’s first Test win in Australia for 14 years.
