Britain’s Emma Raducanu is one win away from the US Open main draw after beating Mariam Bolkvadze in the second round of qualifying.

World number 150 Raducanu beat the 167th-ranked Georgian 6-3 7-5 in 35C heat in New York.

The 18-year-old Briton, who enjoyed a memorable run at Wimbledon in July, will play Mayar Sherif of Egypt next.

Compatriots Katie Boulter and Harriet Dart have also progressed to the final round of qualifying.

However, the rest of the British contingent – Samantha Murray Sharan, Francesca Jones, Jodie Burrage and Liam Broady – all lost their matches.

Dart overcame Lucrezia Stefanini of Italy 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-5), and next faces Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova.

Boulter will meet Kristina Kucova of Slovakia after beating Russia’s Vitalia Diatchenko 6-2 5-7 6-4.

Murray Sharan fell 6-4 3-6 6-3 to experienced Romanian Monica Niculescu, while Jones was beaten 6-4 6-4 by another Romanian player in Jaqueline Adina Cristian.

Burrage took the first set over Switzerland’s Stefanie Vogele, who is 107 places above her in the world rankings, and led 4-2 in the decider before losing 3-6 6-4 7-6 (7-4).

Liam Broady was knocked out by Marco Trungelliti of Argentina, losing 6-4 6-4.

The draw for the US Open, which begins on 30 August, was released on Thursday, with Andy Murray set to face Greek third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round.
