Wiltshire CCC U14s play out ‘hard-fought draw’ against Gloucestershire CCC U14s


WILTSHIRE CCC under 14s played out a hard-fought draw with Gloucestershire CCC.

The two-day game took place at Newent in Gloucestershire on Tuesday, August 12 and Wednesday, August 13.

There were two long, hot days in the field, and frequent drink breaks were required to keep the boys going.

Gloucestershire won the toss and elected to bat first on day 1 and put up a very impressive display of 300 for 5 off 54.3 overs, after which they declared.

The standout player of the innings was Wiltshire bowler Tommy Pearson, who took four wickets for 72 runs.

Wiltshire’s Ivo Leyland hit 45 from 80 balls, just short of his half-century.

Day two, and the second innings got underway with Gloucestershire 209 for 5 before declaring.

Wiltshire Bowler Diyon Vithanage took 4 wickets for 47.

Finally, Wiltshire came in to bat as the day was running out. They managed to hit 195 for 6 before the light ran out, and the match was ended and declared a draw.

Wiltshire wicketkeeper Patrick Hawley scored the highest runs in the second innings with 36.
