WITH an emphatic 58-18 win at New Brighton, Warrington rugby union team retained their position at the top of the table ahead of Eccles by virtue of a superior points difference.
Warrington’s style of play continued to bear fruit despite the windy conditions.

Passing was excellent and runners more often than not had more than one option.
Quick recycle was enabled by sweeping clear outs, where Harry Kellett was much in evidence.
Defence was impressive, both in blocking the try line from short range assault and in midfield where it often produced turnovers.
The Wirral side led twice in the first half but after Luke Turner’s try put the visitors 10-6 in front they never looked back.
They built up a commanding 27-6 by the break and kicked on in the second half.

Turner notched a second score after the break, while Warrington’s other tries were touched down by Ryan Newton, two, Jack Whittaker, two, Jonny Evans, Tom McEniff and Will Uttley.
